Words
Y’know when you get a song stuck in your head and you hum it all day? I’m no exception to this plague… Usually it’s just a word or phrase that triggers the song… Like when I leave work after a long day, I say “ahh, freedom!” and before I know it, I’m singing the chorus of “Freedom 90″ by George Michael. And of course 10min later I realize it! haha
But lately I’ve had words stuck in my head. I don’t react in a “humming” manner where I say the word over and over. It isn’t even triggered by hearing the word. I may not have even said the word in years, but suddenly it’s resting on the tip of my tongue, cluttering up my pre-conscience.
After reading the book Wicked (okay fine, I got the audio book), I had the word “Gillikenese” in my head for days. Then the word “Flexpar” replaced it. Following that was “Pokipse”… and now my current word is “Accoutrement” (in a French accent).
So what I’m saying is I think I’m malfunctioning.

Mine right now is “Apilachicola”. It’s a word used in a Tim McGraw song that I keep wondering about – is it real? I don’t know. Makes me nuts.
Wow!! I guess it’s a place in Florida?? I hope it goes away soon. But yeah this “words are stuck in my head” deal is insane. I don’t know when this started, or if it even happened before Gillikenese… But I don’t believe I like it! :( Flexpar is still kinda around. *sigh*
I didn’t know you were journal-ing here!!!
And this post in particular cracked me up because I *always* get words stuck in my head. Recently it was “rhododendron” and I swear at some point I also had “accoutrement” in there, too.
I’m so glad to hear it happens to the best of us… Although I haven’t been plagued with words in a couple of weeks, thank goodness… But how crazy you had “accoutrement”?! COME ON!!
